I’ve been a vegetarian for almost 18 years and I have never regretted this decision. I love veggies, and I never liked meat so it seemed quite natural to go in raw food direction. In the past few years I have noticed that I was more and more attracted to raw food.
I found some interesting and inspiring videos on Youtube I would like to share with you, hoping to inspire you to try it! I still don’t think I want to change my diet completely, but a nice balance between a vegetarian diet and raw food is absolutely amazing! If you don’t cook food you get ALL of the nutritional value from each plant and it feels like bliss. You get a lot of energy and feel light and refreshed. 🙂
Things to think about when switching to raw food
If you do decide to eat raw food only do some research first! You have to understand that eating raw food requires you to eat a lot on daily basis to give your organism everything it needs. Another thing to remember is the 80-10-10 ratio – 80% fruits and vegetables, 10% protein and 10% fat. When respecting this ratio you get all you need and your organism will be grateful!
I personally don’t like dehydrators even though they are a really important for the raw diet. We don’t always have fresh fruits and veggies so I understand the necessity of the dehydrator. The whole point is that the food shouldn’t be cooked over 40 °C (104 °F) because over that it loses a lot of its nutritional value and isn’t really helpful to your body.
Anyway, check out this raw food enthusiast and try her recipes! I did, and loved them cause they are so simple to make, delicious and the best part – you can eat as much as you want!!
